Destination: Disney – a photo journal of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

It’s a wonder of Disney Resorts that they can make you feel so far from home – somewhere truly magical.  There is an instant change of mood as your Key to The World card is handed to you, and one begins their trek through massive hyper-themed resorts toward your, as Disney calls it, ‘home’.

Over the weekend, we shared our home with the cast of ‘Cars’ at Radiator Springs.  The newly opened wing of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is stunning.  Here are some pictures from the scene:

Just inside the front door is a 4-top table, which turns down into a Murphy Bed to sleep an additional 2 people.

The view from our first floor room – a terrific view over Hour Glass Lake into Pop Century Resort.

My favorite feature of the room – the graphic on the top of our coffee table was a detailed map of Radiator Springs

The entrance to the Cozy Cone Pool. Although it is much smaller than the Finding Nemo wing’s Big Blue Pool – and without the underwater music – it does have semi-private cabanas – in the shape of pylons

One of the many characters waiting to drive around Radiator Springs. The wing also is host to Luigi, Sarge, Lightning, ‘Mator, and Sheriff – who lights up at night waiting to hand out speeding tickets.

Just outside of Luigi’s wing – our home – is the iconic tire tower. The sign we were home.

As always, Disney’s fine eye for detail extends to the light fixtures. The roof lighting are compasses, while the hallways are lined with dim pylon installments.

Garage? Nope – kitchen. Mini fridge, plenty of storage, microwave, and sink.

The Cadillac themed pull-out couch.  Hanging over it, one of the resorts many pieces of incredible art.
