September 10

1983 – The first Night of Joy is held at Walt Disney World Resort.

1999 – Much to the delight of Star Wars nerds everywhere the Tatooine Traders merchandise shop opens at Disney MGM-Studios

2009 – Bob Iger, the President and CEO of the Walt Disney Company kicks off the first-ever D23 Expo in Anaheim, California

September 11

2001 -  On on of the United States’ worst days, the Walt Disney World Resort, and Disneyland close theme-parks.  Resorts remain open to accommodate guests who are unable to leave.  Guests are not charged for phone calls, or food at Resorts.

September 12

2005 – Hong Kong Disneyland has its grand opening.  It took 6 years of planning and building, and cost 1. 8 billion dollars.

     September 15

1996 – The Universe of Energy re-opens at Epcot.  It now features the popular Ellen DeGeneres, Bill Nye ‘The Science Guy’, Alex Trebek, and Jamie Lee Curtis.

1997 – Downtown Disney West Side opens at Walt Disney World.

     September 16

1984 – Restaurant Marrakesh opens in the Morocco pavilion at Epcot.
